So today I had Advanced 3D animation in the evening. It’s taught by Scott Martin, former head of the animation department, which is cool because it seems everyone knows him except me. And I think I left a good impression withe excursuses we had in class. The class itself was a bit too fast at first, but then he slowed it down a bit … maybe too slow, but it’s first day and an evening class so it’s gonna be weird. Plus there was this one kid in class who could not shut up as if he had the perception that he was more popular than he imagined. I also heard too many pop culture jokes on that side of the room as well … Luckily it seems in later level courses more and more of the idiots get weeded out. This is helped by how upfront Scott seems to be with people … I guess when you have a baby you tolerate BS a tad less.
Here something weird though: After being in school for 4 years already the end of last quarter and the beginning of this one seem to be giving me a direction … finally. The teachers have told me with my brief introduction in my classes that I should be a director/art director, and maybe I will go more towards that direction if I follow Chris Liles (Advanced 2D teacher) and teach at AIS while going for a masters degree (I assume business management) at Argosy. All the thoughts are exciting … it seems that I have some motivation now, will it last? I hope so. I have to talk to few people about grooming me to teach there. All while doing freelancing so I can have amount of credibility.
If all else fails, I’m going to Japan to do more Iaido and teach english.
As long as I have enough money to visit my dogs and parents.
